invisible hand

invisible hand
Term used by Adam Smith to describe the natural force that guides free market capitalism through competition for scarce resources. According to Adam Smith, in a free market each participant will try to maximize self-interest, and the interaction of market participants, leading to exchange of goods and services, enables each participant to be better of than when simply producing for himself/herself. He further said that in a free market, no regulation of any type would be needed to ensure that the mutually beneficial exchange of goods and services took place, since this "invisible hand" would guide market participants to trade in the most mutually beneficial manner.

Continuous Improvement

                                      Mount Everest in Nepal

People think that at the top there isn’t much room. They tend to think of it as an Everest. My message is that there is tons of room at the top- Margaret Thatcher,1988.

Innovation could be the best cure for fighting competition in business

Competing head to head can be cut throat, especially when markets are flat or growing slowly. Managers caught in this kind of competition almost universally say they dislike it and wish they could find a better alternative.

They often know instinctively that innovation is the only way they can break free from the pack. However they mostly don’t do so.

Do you want to fight competition?
Deploy the innovation firearm from your arsenal...

As a man thinketh is his or her heart so is he/she

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't.

If you like to win but think you can't,

It's almost a cinch you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost.

For out in the world we find
Success begins with a fellow's will.

It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you are out classed, you are.

You've got to think high to rise.

You've got to be sure of your-self before
You can ever win the prize.

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man.

But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.

~ C. W. Longenecker.
